5 Healthy Snacks Your Kids Will Love

5 Healthy Snacks Your Kids Will Love

Let’s face it; getting kids to eat healthy snacks can be quite tricky sometimes. Every child is different but many tend to scrunch their faces at anything green; broccoli, peas, etc. Unfortunately these are pretty healthy snacks, but sometimes you need a more creative option or idea. Getting children to try new foods or foods they often refuse to eat doesn’t have to be difficult. Imagination and incorporating ‘fun’ into their healthy snacks will make it hard not to love them.
Keeping easy but healthy snacks on hand isn’t hard and they only take minutes to prepare. The following are 5 healthy snacks your kids are sure to love once they’ve tried them; even the picky eaters!

1 – Cheese Kabobs
Cheese is a protein-packed and makes for a great snack and most children love cheese. If your child is sensitive to dairy, use a lactose-free cheese alternative. The fun part of these snacks is using cookie cutters to make shapes of the cheese. Or you can use cubed cheese for your kabobs. If you want to add a little something extra, put a few pieces of fruit on it between the cheese pieces.

2 – Fruit & Veggies with Peanut Butter
This is a favorite among many adults as well as kids. You can use apples, bananas, or celery. Slice up an apple and spread peanut butter on one side for a healthy and filling fun snack. Slice a banana into bite size pieces and top with peanut butter. If using celery, slice up dipping size pieces and dip them into the peanut butter. This is a snack your child will likely be asking for more of! If your child is allergic, use an alternative like Nut-Free Sunbutter or another nut-free option.

3 – Fruit & Yogurt
Yogurt can be tough because some kids may not like the texture. The trick is to try different kinds and/or add in some of their favorite fruit. Put the yogurt in a bowl and add prepared pieces of strawberries, berries, banana, pineapple; whatever fruit they enjoy.

4 – Rice cakes & Apple Sauce
All you need for this quick healthy snack are Rice cakes and some apple sauce. They dip the Rice cake in the applesauce and enjoy! These are two very common snack foods but many of you might have never thought of putting the two together; you’re welcome!

5 – Fresh Fruity Smoothies
By fresh, we mean using fresh fruits in your smoothies. Making them from scratch rather than buying store bought which can be full of unnecessary added sugar. All you need are two things; yogurt (plain or flavored) and fruit. It’s as easy as that and it’s a packed source of protein and calcium for your active and growing child.
