Thank you for everyone who has supported our initiatives to develop a sustainable future for our industry.
After the success of our Forum titled Introduction of Permits for Personal Trainers and Commercial Fitness Operators in Parks /Gardens/Reserves on the 18th of November, we are calling for commercial fitness operators to have their say.
We have 2 documents that address the primary concerns of council with regards to the use of open space of commercial fitness operators. This will give you the opportunity to express any opinions you may have concerning existing or proposed permit structures.
With the recent introduction of a draft proposal for the regulation of commercial fitness operators for the City of Yarra, we have organised a forum to address councils concerns and to represent a unified voice.
We seek to to achieve a sustainable future for commercial fitness operators while maintaining a workable solution that allows small business to be a sustainable and dynamic part of the local community.
When park training is all the rage
Anger is brewing as councils charge for park use, writes Scott Elliott
After a few phone calls, we managed to organise Cameron Houston from the Age to cover the story about Yarra Council’s proposed permit system that will effectively end fitness training at Edinburgh Gardens for groups over 7 people and 17 other parks in the City of Yarra
The City of Yarra has a proposed permit system for personal trainers that will effectively stop group exercise classes of more than 2 people.
With Australia now having the highest over weight/obesity levels in the world at 53% and Diabetes is currently at 6% of the Australian population we need to act. What the City of Yarra is proposing will establish a precedent for councils currently under taking trials or proposing to introduce a permit system to parks and gardens.
