Rare sightings #1 Smiling, at risk of becoming an extinct expression of the past, a great experience today, the lolipop lady smiling to all
While riding the bike today, I went past a school crossing with a lovely lady who was providing assistance to children crossing the road. In the process I noticed she would smile at every person crossing the road, what a fantastic sight.
In the past people engaged in an activity that is becoming as rare as our rainfall, smiling.
A simple action that warms the soul and provides a quick burst of happiness, like yawning, smiling tends to be contagious.
Talking to our more senior members of society, people would walk down the street smiling, whistling to themselves or huming to a tune, signs that you are happy.
Next time you’re on public transport or walking down the street have a quick glance at those people around you, chances are they look angry, frustrated, annoyed, stress, tired, unhappy but most importantly NOT smiling.
So do something crazy today and smile while you are walking down the street, even though society may think your a bit strange/odd you may get one back.
I think that it is sad that smiling at a perfect stranger is viewed as some weird behavior that makes people feel uncomfortable.
