Hardest part of getting to training

Wednesday, November 26th, 2008

I always say the hardest part of any morning exercise regime is moving your feet 30cm to the bedroom floor, once your moving it’s not so bad

Anything is possible if you believe in it

Well done to a Fitmate who hates running and found it difficult to run for 300 meters net alone a 3kms.

Now the Fitmate has within 5 weeks completed a lap around Princess park (approximately 3.3km)
Go girl Go!!!!

An absolutely awesome effort:))))

Once again the weather is on our side

Saturday, November 22nd, 2008

Well our weather good fortune continues:
1.Tuesday night, with the advancement of clouds on the horizon and a few micro particles of water droplets, a fitmate commented at 7.24pm that it was going to rain & the theory about it never raining between 6.30-7.30pm on Tuesday & Thursday nights was about to be broken.

I mentioned that we still had 6 minutes to go before the end of the session and the rain we be held off until such time.

We finished the session & within 5 minutes it bucketed down.

2.Today, it rained heavily overnight and continued into the morning.
Well with 12 hardened Fitmates attending the session, we proceded to a covered area of the park, then just as we completed some high intensity cardio, it started to rain heavily.

We continued the session while protected from the elements.
The rain stopped conveniently while we retreated back to the Rotundra to stretch.

With only light rain we decided to stay in the rotundra.
The Sun made a brief appearance and we continued to stretch.
After finishing the session at 9.30am all the fitmates went home and the inclement weather stated again with heavy rain & hail.

What are you passionate about?

Monday, November 17th, 2008

At an art exhibition I bumped into a person who had previously attended Bootcamp.
The person at the time was finding it difficult to committ to regular session every week.
When I started chatting about her artwork there was excitement, enthusiasm, she spoke in quick sucession about how many hours a week are spent researching or creating the artwork.

If you can find something you are passionate about it is to be admired yet the most important thing we need to be passionate about other our friends and family is our health.

Being heathly enables us to pursue all the activities and pastimes that makes life interesting and exciting.

Are you really busy or is it laziness?

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

We are all busy these days but are you really that busy to put your health above work or any other activity you perform?

Keeping busy can unconsciously distract us from performing tasks we really dont wont to do.
It gives us a legitmate reason or as I like to view it, an excuse to avoid what really needs to be performed. I like to call it LAZINESS.

Yes it may sound a little harsh but to put it into perspective no body is squeakly clean including the author. We are all busy doing daily busy things.

It can be as simple as “I don’t have time to mow the lawns or weed the garden”, maybe their is time in the day to watch TV or surf the net but doing the weeding- NO TIME- TOO BUSY-.

Maybe the busyness in our lives is a form of laziness holding us back from doing all the stuff we really don’t wont to do.

Well unfortunately as a society we place our Health with the same level of importance of mowing the lawn, taking out the rubbish or cleaning the house.

Yes you can pay someone to take care of your house & garden or better still you can let it go until you create your own urban jungle or rubbish tip.

So what happens when place the same level of importance on your health?
You get run down, more prone to illness, your recovery time from illness is longer. In the long term you may be part of a growing statistics for type II diabetes, obesity or heart disease.

But remember you are too busy to have time to consider your own health.
When we are seriously ill, would a Prada hand bag, a new Porche, a holiday house down the cost really mean anything to you, will you look back & say, “Geez, I have fond memories of working back at the office at 11pm.

So is maitaining busyness really just a substitute for laziness?
