5 star Melbourne Boot camp with dry cleaning services, change rooms, flood lights

Wednesday, July 14th, 2010

Well at Fitstyler we are always looking to improve our services, and so we are pleased to announce our new five star boot camp, it’s a bit fancy.

When you sign up to any of our boot camps you will receive a complimentary dry cleaning and ironing service together with a specially decked out recreational vehicle to use as a changing room.
And what training would be complete without lighting, not just any old flood lights but 10,000 watts of pure power, enough to remove any dampness from the grass.

Not enough time to change, wll changing rooms now provided

So if you’re looking to take your boot camp training to a higher level, try our new five star service:))

Actually these were the film crew vehicles parked at Flagstaff Gardens for Robert Di Nero’s new Aussie film, “The Killer Elite” being filmed in Collins St, Melbourne. No sign of Di Nero though, just some dude sitting on his own beside a 4WD, not quite the same as being in one of the massive motor homes parked there!

Melbourne Boot camp 2.5º this morning with frosty beanie

Friday, July 9th, 2010

This morning at Melbourne Boot camp it was a chilly 2.5º so cold that it created a frosty beanie with one of our 7am Fitmates.

Cold morning 2.5º at Melbourne Boot camp

The one thing that people forget is there is a small amount of discomfort initially when you arrive but within 10 minutes all the Fitmates are warmed up and down to singlets and t-shirts which was the case this morning.

One Fitmate was wearing a fibre pile jacket, gloves and beanie which she used in Nepal while trekking in Nepal. It wasn’t long before the jacket became like a sauna suit, ok if we were running bikram yoga style boot camps:)).

Oddly enough during the stretching/cool down at the end of the session I have to remind the Fitmates to put there jumpers, tops and beanies back on to avoid catching a cold.

Winter Boot camp training awesome morning with sunrise cold termperatures

Monday, June 28th, 2010

While it was a chilly one this morning, we were fortunate to experience an absolutely stunning sunrise. While the colder winter temperatures (2.5º) may be a little challenging, once you are out of bed, the hardest part of the mornings exercise regime has been completed.

Training during winter can be challenging but there are rewards

I always like to say that moving your feet that 30cm from the bed to the floor is really the hardest part of any exercise program, once you are up and about the rest is a lot easier.

One massive benefit apart from feeling great after the session is watching these amazing sunrises with crisp blue skies and the warmth of the sun filtering through the trees.

In the 5 years I have been running boot camps, I can say that I have NEVER have had one person mention that they are cold after completing the session.
Provided that you undertake a thorough warm up & stretching regime prior to engaging in intensive exercise, you body will reach operating temperature very quickly.

Unfortunately for our Melbourne water storage levels, there is very little rain to fill the catchment areas but on a positive note it makes for more rain free days for boot camp training.

Melbourne’s crazy weather continues with balmy winter temperatures of 14º at 6am

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

Well Melbourne’s crazy weather patterns continue with more balmy winter temperatures this morning. While there are conspiracy theories about the US and other countries projecting testing high frequency radio waves into the atmosphere, I like to think it’s more a result of good old global warming.

At boot cmap this morning, warm temperatures great for fitness training

Temperature graph showing warm temperatures in Melbourne

The benefits are great training conditions if your doing any outdoor fitness programs early in the morning, for our boot camps it’s make for great training conditions. Everyone was sweating profusely within 20 minutes as the unexpected warmer temperatures caught everyone off guard.

It’s amazing that yesterday morning we had a chilly 3.5º at 6am and exactly 24 hours later it’s 14º.
The usual layers of clothing that is required for the average 6 – 8º mornings being made redundant by these summer temperatures.

Big storm moves adross Melbourne

BUT within 3 hours of finishing, a massive storm traveled across Melbourne with high squally winds and heavy rain, then the sun re-appears.
Truly Melbourne is living up to four season in one day.

Winter Boot camp training outdoors the body warms up quickly

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

While the days may be getting colder and the temptation to hibernate indoors grows stronger, our winter boot camps have shown that the body warms up quickly.

Temperature drops but body warms up quickly

Cold night at Boot camp training

Although we had a bone shivering 8.7º degrees and everyone rugging up against the cold, it wasn’t long before everyone was done to T-Shirts and singlets.
The great thing about fitness training outdoors is the body is burning additional energy to maintain the core temperature. The cooler conditions provides an optimal balance between the heat generated by the body verses the cooling effect of the cooler air temperatures.

The greatest barriers to training outdoors in the cold weather isn’t the cooler air temperatures it’s what’s going through the mind. I have never had a client complain during a boot camp session that it’s too cold or the cooler temperatures are making them uncomfortable.

Think about when you’re up at the snow in the outdoor spa, maybe its -15º but within 10 minutes your sitting on the outside of the spa. Some people even roll around in the snow to cool down so it’s really just getting the body to the correct operating temperature.
