Indicator if Boot camp training is hard F word used regularly & swearing

Saturday, May 22nd, 2010

One of my Fitmates who shall remain anonymous regular indicates her level of exhaustion by the used of a flowery bouquet of the F word and other words from the same family:))
It’s a great indicator of how hard the Boot Camp session is, as today the F word was only used 3 times which means there was still a little bit left in the tank.

By the way, we train people at there preferred level of intensity which is indicated by a rating from 1-5, so with this particular Fitmate it sits around 4.95.

As this Fitmate is trained by Michael as well, I will need to get some stats on the F word count, I’m confident that by the next session I can get it above 10. Similarly I will have to get a F word count off Michael.

So if you’re looking at an intense workout, you can’t beat the Boot camp style of exercise training, as it’s about keeping the body constantly moving.

Funny Boot camp parody video shoot

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

We had some fun on the weekend with shooting our new Boot camp parody video.

Having fun with our less than usual session

Not our normal boot camp style

We never engage with tyre carrying at our boot camp

Running late to boot camp gets 10 gazillio push ups

A big thank you to all the fitmates who kindly donate their time on Saturday morning.
One big thing to remember is that Fitstyler does NOT employ any of these sorts of training techniques at our Boot camps, nor do our instructors sit in chairs while eating cake, coffee and reading girly magazines. Michael is extremely fit with great core strength which is necessary when undertaking any crazy activities such as tyre dragging or carrying.

Remember when undertaking any form of group exercise to ensure that you have an instructor who is familiar with correct human movement and posture. It’s quite easy to sustain damage when performing an exercise incorrectly or using equipment to increase the level of difficulty.

it’s important when performing any exercise to ensure you have good stabilisation through the core to ensure that you are not damaging your back, especially the lower back that compensates for poor core strength. Take a track athlete for example, when they are running the trunk remains perfectly still while the limbs are in full movement, similarly you upper body should not be rocking from side to side, or forwards or backwards when performing a lunge.

Morning heart starter boot camp exercise or coffee

Friday, May 14th, 2010

At Boot camp this morning, a Fitmate was commenting that doing an exercise program in the morning charged her for the rest of the day.

While it may be challenging to get out of bed at 5.30am to get to a Boot camp or gym session for a 6am start, the benefits are huge.
The endorphins start flowing after 60 minutes of intense exercise, the blood is pumping around the body at a higher level promoting increased levels of oxygen saturation in the blood.

The other option is to make the daily stop over at the local cafe for that caffeine hit. While both options make you more alert and awake, the effects of caffeine eventually subside and you may collapse in a heap at your desk.

Solution grab another coffee for morning tea. Mmmmmm, not a great choice but the other option of sneaking in some exercise may be worth considering.
An alternative for the time poor may be to consider riding a bicycle to work, depending on the intensity, you can get an effective workout as well while avoiding the stress and chaos of venturing onto our congested roads and public transport system.

Worried about being hot & sweaty, there are options available.

Never rains at Bootcamp

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

Well another night of clear skies and no rain at Bootcamp training. very impressive considering that it poured cats and dogs earlier.

This radar images highlights how the skies are clear by 6.30pm

With the humidity at high levels and a cooler 13º, it wasn’t long before everyone was back to T-Shirts from the warmer jackets.

It was only exactly one week ago that a massive storm swept through Melbourne with lighten, strong winds and hail but miraculously it missed our Bootcamp.

Lightening storm boot camps don’t mix

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

Spectacular fireworks in the sky, while the storm was well south, the lightening was clearly visible. Unfortunately massive storms and Boot camp don’t mix so we canceled the session.

Great radar image to see extent of Melbourne storm

Crazy weather at Bootcamp last night with massive storm across Melbourne

Well done to those brave souls who made it to the start of the session, with the storm brewing it was a little safer to retreat to the comforts of our homes. I trust everyone went home and did a solid hour of exercise in lieu of the canceled Boot camp:)).

We are very fortunate with our North Fitzroy Boot camp at Edinburgh Gardens as it rarely rains during our sessions. Last night was another example of how this nasty storm swept through Melbourne’s southern suburbs but missed our area. (although we desperately need the rain for the gardens).

The storm kept heading south east and left a nice clear patch in the inner northern suburbs.

Our weather in Melbourne is stating to resemble the warm humid temperatures that they get up Northern Australia, so Melbourne is becoming the new Brisbane.
