Make healthy deposits to your body bank, what you do to your body accumulates for life, your diet, exercise regime, stress levels & sleep

Sunday, March 1st, 2009

What you have done to your body in the past & present will accumulate in the body bank for life.

Do you want to look & feel 30 years older by not looking after your number one asset?

We need to think about our health like a bank account, make small deposits over a long period of time and the benefits compound.

Conversely abuse your body over your lifetime and once again the harmfull effects are magnified.

We need to not only manage what we eat and drink but more of the intangible aspects of lour lives, the stress that we create and maintaining good quality sleep.

Of course keeping active on a daily basis for at least 30 minutes per day is equally important & very achievable.

One client who is a uni student includes a well known hamburger chain for daily her nutritional requirements.

Eating low nutritional, fat infused, highly processed food may taste ok but the effects will once again accumulate in the body bank.

Although she promotes the virtues of no side effects, loss of energy or lethagy associated with this diet, the long term implications are scary.

Similarly people who drink in excess of the safe levels see no immediate side effects, “yeah I can drink large amounts every day & feel fine” once again deposits are being made in the body bank.

Something that I recommend for people to do to see the effects of not looking after your body is visiting your local hospital’s out patients department.

People in their 50 & 60′s who look 50 years older, bones are easily broken, susceptibility to illness is greater and recovery a lot slowler, so what are you going to do today?

Is technology chasing you or are you chasing technology? With the modern technology evolving so fast, is your health being crunched?

With the internet and email communication rapidly consuming our spare time, are we letting our health suffer?

With the absolute avalanche of emails and social networking responsibility, is eating good quality fresh food and exercise being relegated to the “No time” dept.

What we do today with our bodies is setting the blueprint for latter in life, treat your body well by eating well, getting enough sleep, manageable levels of stress and exercise, you will look & feel great latter in life, not feeling 70 when your 40.

So with the ever fastening pace of technology, remember to leave some time for yourself otherwise your health we suffer.

Is our sedentary lifestyle making us less tolerent to heat? Over the past 15 years ownership of air-con has trippled while adding more Co2

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009

With our recent heatwave an example of the effects of global warming (The hottest temperature on record for Victoria), our reliance on air conditioner units is dramatically increasing our environmental footprint.

Reverse cycle air conditioning or refrigerated compressor type units consume enormous amounts of power, which in effect burn more fossil fuels which contributes to global warming, therefore increasing our perceived reliance on these units.

Fifteen years ago we experienced more traditional weather patterns, a summer that started in December and ended in February as opposed to our current seasons.
Yet while experiencing these traditional summers we managed without air conditioning, maybe a ceiling fan or personal type fan was sufficient.

Is being less active and motionless for long periods during the day effecting out ability to cope?

Everything in your life should be going in the same direction, whether its looking after the body, mind, health, spirit, Friends & Family

Saturday, January 31st, 2009

Everything in your life should be going in the same direction, whether its looking after the body, mind, health, spirit, Friends & Family.

We need to ensure that all aspects of our lives are heading in the same direction.
Whether this is viewed as balancing the different segments in our life or ensuring that each of those segments have similar goals and aspirations, we need consistency and balance.

Too often some segments are neglected while other segments are overflowing with attention.
Think of life as having a destination with all these segments coming together to share and experience the journey.
If any of these segments are traveling in a different direction, the ultimate path may not be clear or blurred.

Need to apply the same philosophy to health as Dentists do for teeth

Tuesday, January 6th, 2009

We need to apply the same philosophy to our nations health as Dentists do for teeth. Preventing tooth decay & gum disease is a far more economic way to manage our oral hygiene rather than waiting for tooth decay & gum disease to happen.

If our governments can implement this vision then the billions spent oh our national health care bill owing to cardio vascular disease, obesity and diabetes will be significantly reduced in the next decade.

Otherwise treating the equivalent of gum disease costs significantly more than the prevention
