So looking at fat burning, what works the best?
I was ask by a new client is it better to run on a treadmill for 60 minutes at a medium intensity or shorter bursts of high intensity.
Well a combination of both is great but for burning fat keeping a higher intensity definitely works.
Keeping a lower intensity burns a highrer percentage of fat however the total energy expenditure is low when compared to shorter bursts of higher intensity, you are burning a smaller percentage of a larger amount of energy.
So when looking at fat burning activities and what works, keep to high intensity exercise.

Fitstyler attended Mothers Play at Docklands last Friday. The day was orgainsed by the Australian Breastfeeding Asoociation to give Mums some time out while indulging themselves.
A very diverse range of stalls gave Mums a chance to unwind with massage, meditation and other pampering services.

With the green house gas emissions increasing unabated, should our politicians be leading by example.
Car exhaust fumes account for a significant proportion of CO2 gas emmisions, yet our politicians drive large 6 cyclinder cars.
Maybe having politicians using a bicycle as a pollution free alternative may be a good alternative, this can extend through to local government.
It would have the added advantage of actually seeing how diverting some resources to improoving the bicycle network can reduce car usage and improve the health of the community.
It wasn’t that long ago in Melbourne commuters relied on the bicycle as a primary means of transport.

Well the fitness circus that is the biggest loser winds up for another season.
Well Thursday night was a max exodus as people left the session to take their vantage points in front of the telly.
Not being a big fan of the show I braved the Oreo cookies & KFC commercials and American hype to see what it was all about.
The results were truly amazing yet it begs the question of whether it sends out a safe and realistic message to people about losing weight.
Unfortunately part of the whole weight lost process takes part in our thought processes, the mental committment and focus to achieve the results.
There is the other school of thought that if weight lose is protrayed as being part of a miltary style program with vomiting and unrealistic exercise drills, will the general public make a lifestyle shift. Or is it merely a spectacle for the purposes of entertainment like watching an American talk show with people bearing their souls in front of millions of people.

Perserverance overrides resistance, Never give up. I had a new person join Fitstyler who had just given up smoking with little exercise participation recently.
To her credit a decision was made to improove her fitness level and restore her energy levels.
The first session prooved to be extremely challenging and confronting at times.
Sometimes in the craziness of life, work, friends and relationships we neglect our bodies. We have all been guilty at some point or another. I have total admiration and respect when people overcome their own Mount Everest and persevere.
After 60 minutes, the session finished and she lay triumpant in the knowledge that she pushed through and didn’t give up.
From now on, every session will get easier and as the fitness level rises, so does the level of motivation.
