Fitness trainer bowled over by client’s dog at morning boot camp

Tuesday, September 13th, 2011

At Fitstyler, we encourage clients to bring their dogs to boot camp, on the proviso that the dog doesn’t interfere with other Fitmates, or pose a risk to the safety of Fitmates or other park users.

Well, during our 6am boot camp session at Edinburgh Garden we have 3 regular four-legged friends who join their owners for some exercise.

As our trainer, Anthony, was explaining the next exercise for the session, however, James & Jess’s pet Kelpie Chariot decided to literally fly into Anthony’s leg and knock him down!

Ironically, Anthony fell flat into a sit-up position.

At first everyone was a little shocked as he fell on top of Chariot (totally unavoidable and unexpected). Nevertheless, both dog and Anthony were fine and it was all laughs and giggles after that.

It’s great that dog owners are happy to participate in exercise classes with their dogs.

Funny Fitness Quote “Reversed car hit the wall and missed Boot camp”

Tuesday, January 11th, 2011

Very funny fitness quote regarding why a fitmate couldn’t make it to our Carlton Boot camp one morning “Reversed car hit wall missed Boot camp”.

reason why missed boot camp

No boot camp after hitting brick wall

It all started when Lisa L’s mum asked her to move her car, she thought she could park the car closer to the front door as she had some stuff to unload.

As Lisa went to reverse car, she inadvertently hit the accelerator to hard and when straight for the pillar and up onto the patio. She doesn’t quite know what happened as it was all so fast.

However I love her optimism, if she had driven forwards, the pillar could have gone through the windscreen or the verandah may have fallen down.

“Hasn’t been my year, anything that could have happened has happened (in bad stuff). So with 2011 a new year full of optimism and only good stuff ahead:))

With our Fitstyler awards now 12 months away, I think Lisa has blown away the competition very early for the best excuse for missing boot camp.

Shaken but not stirred:))

Funny Fitness quote “if worried about the mozzie bite wait for locusts coming”

Friday, October 1st, 2010

Funny Fitness quote, our Fitmate Louise who was bitten by mozzies at Monday night’s session was commenting at last nights session that her ankle swelled after boot camp, straight away JP said “if you are worried about the mozzie bite then wait until the locusts come”.

Well I have seen it all at the parks but with the baby locusts hatching in Northern Victoria, there are fears that the swarms will hit Melbourne with even the possibility of affecting the Melbourne Cup.

So unless the locusts are planning on being selective about where they migrate to, you can only assume that the locusts will infest large tracks of our city during their migration to source more abundant food supplies.

Locusts heading towards Melbourne

So added to the trainer manual will be a section on insect swarms, luckily we don’t have earthquakes or cyclones in Melbourne.

Well something to look forward to in the coming months, LOCUSTS:))

Fitness training outdoors over winter too hard

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

It’s 5.30am and it’s time to go boot camp training over winter, it’s cold, wet and miserable and you’re feeling very unmotivated, so is it really that bad?

Fortunately for people who live in Melbourne, we have very little rain so while this is disastrous for our reservoirs and water catchments, it’s great for fitness training.

So next time you’re thinking, mmm, should I or shouldn’t I, just think about how much better you will feel after the session.

As I always say, the hardest part of any early morning fitness program is putting your feet onto the ground, after that it gets easier.
Just treat your boot camp or outdoor fitness session like a business appointment.

Melbourne Boot camp 2.5º this morning with frosty beanie

Friday, July 9th, 2010

This morning at Melbourne Boot camp it was a chilly 2.5º so cold that it created a frosty beanie with one of our 7am Fitmates.

Cold morning 2.5º at Melbourne Boot camp

The one thing that people forget is there is a small amount of discomfort initially when you arrive but within 10 minutes all the Fitmates are warmed up and down to singlets and t-shirts which was the case this morning.

One Fitmate was wearing a fibre pile jacket, gloves and beanie which she used in Nepal while trekking in Nepal. It wasn’t long before the jacket became like a sauna suit, ok if we were running bikram yoga style boot camps:)).

Oddly enough during the stretching/cool down at the end of the session I have to remind the Fitmates to put there jumpers, tops and beanies back on to avoid catching a cold.
