Funny fitness story Dog Confused running opposition Boot Camp

Thursday, December 9th, 2010

We had a funny fitness story at Boot Camp when one of our Fitmates, Paul C brought his dog along to the morning session.

As dogs can get very excited doing dog stuff,. Tim (Paul’s dog) got confused and ran to the other boot camp that was running in the park trying to find his owner. This went on for some time before Paul realised that his dog was missing and getting involved with another group.

We encourage our clients to bring along the dogs to our boot camp sessions provided that they are restrained and do not present a risk to other participants. Tim is often joined by Maggie, another dog and together they follow their owners around our exercise course and stay by the by the side during exercise.

I often say why leave your four legged friend at home, all alone and bored when you can bring them along to exercise class and everybody is kept happy.

Never rains at Bootcamp

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

Well another night of clear skies and no rain at Bootcamp training. very impressive considering that it poured cats and dogs earlier.

This radar images highlights how the skies are clear by 6.30pm

With the humidity at high levels and a cooler 13º, it wasn’t long before everyone was back to T-Shirts from the warmer jackets.

It was only exactly one week ago that a massive storm swept through Melbourne with lighten, strong winds and hail but miraculously it missed our Bootcamp.

Lightening storm boot camps don’t mix

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

Spectacular fireworks in the sky, while the storm was well south, the lightening was clearly visible. Unfortunately massive storms and Boot camp don’t mix so we canceled the session.

Great radar image to see extent of Melbourne storm

Crazy weather at Bootcamp last night with massive storm across Melbourne

Well done to those brave souls who made it to the start of the session, with the storm brewing it was a little safer to retreat to the comforts of our homes. I trust everyone went home and did a solid hour of exercise in lieu of the canceled Boot camp:)).

We are very fortunate with our North Fitzroy Boot camp at Edinburgh Gardens as it rarely rains during our sessions. Last night was another example of how this nasty storm swept through Melbourne’s southern suburbs but missed our area. (although we desperately need the rain for the gardens).

The storm kept heading south east and left a nice clear patch in the inner northern suburbs.

Our weather in Melbourne is stating to resemble the warm humid temperatures that they get up Northern Australia, so Melbourne is becoming the new Brisbane.

Abandoned guitar found Melbourne park

Friday, March 12th, 2010

This morning at our Melbourne Bootcamp, I came across this abandoned guitar just after sunrise.

Mmm, I have seen some interesting things in the park, but never have I found something as valuable as a guitar even though it did look a little worse for wear with dents and scratches.

Came across this alone guitar in our Melbourne park at Bootcamp in morning

Hopefully the owner will make the journey back to this Melbourne Park at Edinburgh Gardens to reunite the guitar with it’s rightful owner.

Funny Fitness quote “if I don’t exercise I won’t be able to open vegemite jar when I get older”

Friday, February 26th, 2010

Funny Fitness quote this morning regarding the effects of not exercising during your lifetime “if I don’t exercise, I won’t be able to open vegemite jar” when I get older.

I always like to compare your body to a car engine, you can not change the oil regularly, rev the engine before it has warmed up properly and not give it regular servicing.

For the first couple of years it will be ok but after 50-70000kms, it will be sluggish, idle roughly and be uneconomical to run.
So your body is no different, as the old saying goes “Use it or lose it”
