You never know what will eventuate from having an open mind.

A great film by Jim Carrey called ‘The Yes Man’
Which is creating the openness to new situation and not saying no to anything.

In the movie Jim changes his attitude by saying Yes to everything irrespective of the appropriateness of the request by someone, for example ‘ can I have $10?’ and you will give them $10.
The idea initially was to allow yourself to become open to new experience and that the sequence of events ultimately leads to a major event and that major event sets off another set of sequences. So it is all about changing your belief system, ultimately you have to make appropriate changes or appropriate decisions about what you say yes to. Obviously it can be maybe irresponsible to always say yes to something but after 2 weeks Jim was able to identify in the movie which roles were appropriate & which weren’t.

By allowing himself to be open to new possibilities created new opportunities in his life and a lot more positive outcomes occurred. Ultimately its about changing our thought process and how we see the world and being open to these new opportunities by following a set type of behaviour we have set outcomes so doing something crazy every now and again and saying yes to something you usually would say no to can open up those new possibilities. Whether it may be someone asking you to help them move house or something where you may ordinarily not do it for whatever reason in which case there is nothing bad in helping someone move house for example, provide your obviously not putting yourself in a dangerous situation lifting heaving objects, who knows where that could lead to, what opportunities are uncovered. Everyday we’re open to these great opportunities, how often have you said no to something which isn’t equivalent of person asking for $10 out of the blue but it might be someone asking for some help.

Maybe someone in the office, maybe someone in the street, how often have you turned a blind eye to something yet there is all these infinite possibilities that lay ahead. So once again its all about that positiveness, putting it out into the universe.

So never have a closed mind and be open to new opportunities

Don’t be bitter or angry, being positive. That Grumpy person who makes your life uncomfortable may have a reason for their behavior.

Be careful not not hold anger or bitterness, it’s easy to change the situation by being positive.
I heard a great story about this person who lives in the city on a main st, sharing an apartment on the 3rd level over seeing the street.

Every night there is a person, grumpy old man that plays his music really loudly which is obviously disturbing to his neighbor due to the thin walls. One neighbor in particular tries to do meditate every night so you can imagine it may be quiet annoying at 8.30pm at night to have this loud sound.
So every time she will just gently knock on the door and say look, do you mind turning down the music of which the person usually obliges and being in their own little world they are quiet unaware of what they are doing and the implications to other people.
So this goes on week after week, one day her good friend comes over from Italy and they decide to cook up this great meal together and in the conversation this person starts playing the loud music again and says to her friend from Italy this happens frequently, the friend from Italy says “well why don’t we go over and seeing we’re cooking, go over and offer him some food”, guess what the response was, “What!!, are you serious, give him some food, he’s being very annoying. The Italian friend looking at the situation in a positive light says “maybe he’s lonely, maybe he’s unhappy…lets make his life a little bit better”.

So they go over there, knock on his door and say “Hi its Jenny here, I just thought, we are cooking some pasta would you like some?”
Anyway from that moment on things changed, no more loud music and life got better.
So a simple story but I think there is a lot to be learnt from this. Same may happen in an office, if there is someone really annoying, go up to them, do something nice, offer them some help, it’s the last thing they are expecting. They become like an energy magnet so if they got negative energy and you’re giving them negative energy your only making the energy level greater but if you break the cycle, give some positive energy it cancels out negative energy so what are you left with, neutral, and everyone is going to be better off.

So that grumpy person may really just be crying out for some attention.

Turn a negative into a positive. Help that annoying person, you might be surprised by the outcome.

Turn a negative into a positive. That annoying person that you see every day, do something nice, got up to them, make a suggestion something that will help them out. You might be surprised by the outcome.

Has your diamond lost its sparkle? Are you taking life too seriously?

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009

We all get caught in the modern pressures of life and before we know it, we’re taking life too seriously

Before we know it we are acting like our parents or our grandparents forgetting to have fun.

When we are born, we are like a freshly cut diamond, sparkling to the world, so pure and clear. As we get older we take on the realities of life with the associated stresses. Just like the diamond, we lose that sparkle over a period of time, we get tarnished by life and lose focus on what really matters.
Be yourself and let that mischievous part in you sparkle again, life is meant to be fun and enjoyable. Ultimately we are responsible for our own actions.

So to something out of the blue, something crazy, so try not to take your life too seriously.

“GIGO” Garbage in Garbage out

Saturday, June 20th, 2009

Simple saying I heard, “GIGO” Garbage in Garbage out.

What you put into body is what you get out of it. So what you get out of it with eating poorly is lack of energy, weight gain & setting a poor foundation for future life.

Every day you may not see the immediate effects of your diet or how you treat your body but over a long term the effects accumulate. It’s like a car engine tis cold and immediately you red line the engine yet there is no immediate damage but over a long period of time you will have significantly reduced the mileage from the engine.

In time requiring a reconditioned engine or having to update the car a lot earlier. Your body is no different,if you’re looking after your body over a long period which has positive benefits.
Alternatively neglect your body over a long period and you will suffer the consequences.
So instead of GIGO, think about NoNo, no to that greasy fast food burger, or NoNo to hitting the snooze button rather than getting up yo exercise.
