Today will be a great day, it’s all about projecting your thoughts.
I started today with this thought & ended up doing a bunch ride with Bradley Wiggins, 4th in 2009 Tour de France and Gold at the Beijing Olympics.

As Kevin Costner famously said in the movie, “If you build it, he will come.”.
Well think of your mind like the corn field in the movie, about believing that great things can happen. If you truly believe, it will happen.

Well after waking at this morning, eyes barely open and squinting, I look in the mirror (not a pretty site at 5.00am) and said “today will be a great day”

After running our Melbourne Bootcamp, headed to the office, fired up the computer and started to compose a blog. I went to Twitter to make sure that I had reached the 140 character limit when I quickly looked at the Twitters (I follow some very busy twitterers which equates to a twitter every 2 seconds being displayed).

By believing it will be a great day, great things happened

To my amazement I saw a twitter from Bradley Wiggins, forth overrall winner in this years Tour de France asking “Long Shot anyone fancy a ride at 3.30 from St Kilda” at the very top of twitters.
Now I only follow 2 Pro cyclists, Bradley Wiggins and Lance Armstrong, and I rarely read very Twitter otherwise I would need an extra 24 hours in the day. I replied with a suggested meeting place, bradley replied back with a venue he was familiar with, well 40 other cyclists meet up for the ride as well.

Two and a half hours later we returned and I even managed to get a quick interview.
The funny thing is Bradley would not have continued for riding for 90 kms had no one had shown up as roads can be quite dangerous when riding alone. So for Bradley there was a belief that he would find people to ride with.

So it may seem a bit weird and strange but the very first thought when you ride from your unconscious state in the morning (or afternoon/evening if your a shift worker) is today will be a great day and start projecting positive thoughts

Recession buster tip #10 Cook at home and save money $$$

It seems simple enough but cooking at home contrary to popular belief is definitely cheaper if you avoid supermarkets for your meat, fruit and vegetables.

With the success of Masterchef, people are not only cooking at home but is entering the vernacular of daily conversations.
Even a friend of mine emailed me a recipe that he had tried and raved about it, Gary’s Fried Rice & Open Beef Kofta it’s great to see that finally are seeing the benefits and enjoyment that can be had by cooking at home, it’s simple enough to learn and you can save money

Masterchef has done wonders at getting people to cooking at home and having dinner parties. Eating in is the new eating out

Masterchef – getting people cooking & having dinner parties.

It’s awesome the to see the positve effect that Masterchef is having on getting people cooking at home and entertaining friends.

The great thing is cooking at home can save you money as well.

With so many cooking shows, books and DVD’s on cooking, the kitchen has become more of a show piece than being functional, that is a kitchen.

One thing I found interesting was a few of the guys who attend our Melbourne fitness boot camp talking about how they had some mates over for a Masterchef dinner to coincide with the finals.
How awesome is that, cooking is traditionally not a blokey activity, so to see the guys cooking instead of ordering takeaway with their mates is awesome.

So start cooking at home and invite friends and family around for a dinner party.

Royal Childrens Hospital allows McDonalds to operate at new $1b hospital, if this responsible given high levels of childhood obesity?

Royal Childrens Hospital allowing McDonalds at new $1B hospital, is this sending a positive message given high levels of childhood Obesity?

The Royal Childrens Hospital has introduced a strict nutritional requirement for all food vendors to comply with in order to operate at their new hospital.
The new Traffic Light nutritional guidelines are similar to what has been introduced by the City of Melbourne at the food court at QV Building.

The guidelines are based on having a simple means to quickly determine what is healthy by adopting the traffic light colours of Red, Amber & Green.

The question is whether children would ultimately decide what they want to eat irrespective of whether it is healthy or not and more specifically will having McDonalds at the hospital bring greater benefits to children other than creating strong brand recognition from an early age?

By having McDonalds at at hospital sending a message of endorsement to not only parents but children who may not yet have the maturity or knowledge to make informed nutritional decisions.

While the issue of childhood obesity is extremely complex, is having a fast food company at the Royal Childrens hospital a responsible decision?

Very sneaky how juices which are made from puree and then vacuum sealed are in the refrigerated section of the supermarket

Very sneaky how juices which are made from puree and then vacuum sealed are in the refrigerated section of the supermarket, giving the illusion that they are freshly squeezed when actual fact they are like every other concentrated long life juice.

it’s a similar marketing ploy with Soya milk which is actually a juice from the Soya Bean, once again in vacuum sealed packaging.
