In Western Australia there is no Sunday trading, while a nuisance to some, what a great way to do nothing, relax, wind down & de rush

Saturday, May 23rd, 2009

With our society getting faster & faster, one state in Australia goes against the trend by having no Sunday trading, Western Australia.
While some may view this as crazy, I find it is a great way to do nothing, wind down, spend quality time with friends & family, re charge the batteries while not engaging in typical weekend behavior of rushing around buying this, going there, driving here, driving there.

While there are some exemptions based on satisfying certain criteria, most business have to reframe from opening on a Sunday.
The great thing is like retailers in the seventies before weekend weekend trading, people managed by shopping on Thursday/Friday nights or Saturday mornings before 12.00pm, everybody coped fine.

It’s only now in 2009 that longing working hours and additional weekend activities chrunch our time to the point the only option is Saturday afternoon or Sunday.

Maybe our buyer behavior has change, maybe we are now consuming more stuff or maybe shopping has become a social activity or we are making more frequent trips/smaller purchases from the supermarkets.

What ever has happened try this at home this weekend, buy all your food and other supplies and relax at home, switch off the internet, mobile phone, turn the land line ringing dial down and chill out.
You may be surprised how you feel Monday morning:)))

With Australian worker’s addiction to work getting out of control: 123 Million days of annual leave not taken, the govt has moved to educate

With our constant consumption comes the need to eventually pay for what we consume, mortgages, car loans, personal loans, credit cards, store credit, more clothes, electrical stuff or anything for that matter requires money and lots more of it.
Throw the threat of looming higher unemployment and the result is more work & less play.
If you layed out the average house contents from 2009 compared to 1959, how much more stuff do you think the average person/household now consumes or stockpiles??

In recognition of the negative impacts this is having not only in the work place but for society in general, the Australain Government has released a new initiative called “No leave, No life”
Are you guilty of too much work & not enough play???

With the internet and email communication rapidly consuming our spare time, are we letting our health suffer?

With the absolute avalanche of emails and social networking responsibility, is eating good quality fresh food and exercise being relegated to the “No time” dept.

What we do today with our bodies is setting the blueprint for latter in life, treat your body well by eating well, getting enough sleep, manageable levels of stress and exercise, you will look & feel great latter in life, not feeling 70 when your 40.

So with the ever fastening pace of technology, remember to leave some time for yourself otherwise your health we suffer.
