Get Your Summer Body In Winter

Winter can be a more difficult time of the year to lose weight, while we are all wishing for the summer months to come soon the problem lies with the discipline we have during the cold months.

Most people cover up during winter and pack on a few extra kilos; they would rather do some hibernating than exercising. Winter is actually a perfect time to lose weight because exercise helps you sweat out and can keep your body warm.

Do you want to look your best this summer? It’s time to get motivated, get a new fitness routine and reinvent yourself because warm weather is just around the corner. Look great, feel great and rock your summer body at the beach!

Get into the habit of having a healthy lifestyle all year round including winter.

 

1. Stay Hydrated

Staying hydrated is the best way to get rid of excess water weight.

Water is your body’s fuel to keep you moving; reduced intake of water may slow down your performance during a workout and can even lead to mild dehydration.

Health authorities recommend the 8×8 rule which is to drink eight 8-ounce glasses of water daily (or about 2 litres) and sip on water if you must throughout the day even if you aren’t particularly thirsty.

 

2. Reduce Alcohol Intake

Drinking a moderate amount of red wine has been linked to many health benefits but changing from a glass a day to one every two or three nights instead can help decrease your total calorie intake and can help improve your sleeping patterns which can give you the strength and the energy that you need for exercise the next day.

 

3. Stay Outdoors and Stay Active

Whatever you do be sure to go outside and stay active. Find activities that take you out of your home from going for a walk, going to the NGV or strolling the department stores in the CBD.

If the sun is out, stay longer and bask in its warmth. The effects may not be too obvious but sunshine has powerful effects on your body’s circadian rhythm.

 

4. Sweat It All Off

Strength training and high intensity workouts are some of the best workout routines to get your body back in shape during winter as you prepare for summer.

Do strength training at least three to four times a week to burn calories, increase metabolism and develop lean muscles; having a toned a trimmed body will make you look great. Get into the habit of putting all your effort into the workout program, no excuses!

The best time to do exercises is in the morning to boost your metabolism and get your energy high for the rest of the day!

 

Aim to be fit and healthy this winter and be confident enough to wear clothes that are perfect for the hot days ahead. You don’t have to look like a model on the covers of magazines, staying active is enough to get you to look like one (even better than models) as you discipline yourself and aim to be as healthy as can be.
