The National Gallery of Victoria’s next Melbourne Winter Masterpieces series exhibition presents postwar and contemporary art from the worldwide collections of the famous Guggenheim Museum.

Guggenheim Collection: 1940s to Now, features iconic artworks from the 1940s to the present by internationally renowned artists such as Willem de Kooning, Mark Rothko, Jackson Pollock, Roy Lichtenstein, Gilbert & George, and Jeff Koons.

While the majority of the presentation is drawn from the holdings of the Guggenheim Museum in New York, select masterpieces from other Guggenheim collections in Venice, Bilbao, and Berlin are also featured. The exhibition introduces artists whose work has never been seen before in Melbourne, and some of the Guggenheim’s most recent acquisitions are premiered here.

This is the first time ever that the Guggenheim collections have been seen in Melbourne.  This exhibition is exclusive to the National Gallery of Victoria and will not travel to any other Australian city, or anywhere else in the world.
