Avoid the “jogger” tag

The late George Sheehan once wrote that the difference between a jogger and a runner is an entry form. So the simple way to avoid a term many runners object to is to enter an event.

As we move slowly away from the winter solstice and the days become longer, our thoughts turn to getting fitter and the Spring into Shape Series.

This year the series will be held on Sunday, 14 September, 26 October and 23 November with its’ traditional distances of 4 or 8 kilometres, run or walk, around the Yarra River at the Alexandra Gardens.

Each event this year will emphasise a different aspect of a runner’s or walker’s fitness with Sporting Spirit coach Brian Schepisi leading the team that does the free testing on the day.

And because each event is run on the same course from month to month, the Spring into Shape Series gives you the opportunity to measure your progress and improvement alongside what you have learnt at each event.

Series entrants will receive a free Brooks technical T-shirt valued at $65.
