Moomba Waterfest 2009
When: Friday, 6 March to Monday, 9 March 2009
Location: Yarra River, Melbourne
Not as daggy as you may think, Mooba has re invited itself. Cool tunes by the water is what it’s all about in 2009. Get set to see some of Australia's top acts at the Coca-Cola Moomba Rhythms Stage.

Moomba Waterfest
Moomba has been a big part of Melbourne for more than 50 years.

In 2009, Moomba takes a breath of fresh air, bringing an invigorated program that offers more variety -
•an impressive line up of bands a parade that combines spectacle with celebration and magic
•a children’s garden with circus performers,
•family activities and free entertainment
•adrenaline-fuelled sports action on the land and water
•huge carnival rides and more

The recent Victorian bushfires have devastated many of our communities and the plight of those caught up in the disaster has rallied our city into action.

As Australia’s largest free community festival, Moomba Waterfest represents a fantastic opportunity for all of us to recognise and celebrate the strength and unity of our community.

Loving the Yarra - Melbourne Water's Birrarung Celebration

Take some time out and relax by the river at Melbourne Water's Birrarung Stage. Enjoy the festive sounds of fine Melbourne musicians such as Nicky Bomba, Rob Sawyer and Dewayne Everettsmith.

For those who feel like a dance, Zoophyte will oblige. Join a dance workshop while you’re there and learn some new moves.

Who’s playing at Melbourne Water’s Birrarung Celebration

Rob Sawyer plays a raw, organic blend of punk folk, and hillbilly reggae. A compelling voice and a well-worn fret board make for an enjoyable performance.

Nicky Bomba has spent years playing with bands from Africa, the Middle East and and plenty of other places, honing his reggae, ska and mento expertise. The music produced by this peace-lovin’ troubadour is a melting pot of fun, adventure, evoking the exotic sounds of the people and places he loves.

Dewayne Everettsmith plays original songs influenced by contemporary music, his life and his connection to both the Gunai nation of South-East Victoria and the Tasmanian community who thrived on Cape Barren.

Zoophyte is bringing a swag full of bodacious guitar-based psychedelic new tunes to this celebration. Bring your dancing shoes and sense of fun and enjoy.
