One of the first things you notice when you approach the NISSAN/BRW Corporate Triathlon Melbourne venue is the sheer size of its bike compound. Over 5,000 bikes are racked with military precision in an area that usually covers not only a football pitch, but its surrounding grasslands when the NISSAN/BRW Series isn’t in town.
But that’s thing about the Corporate Series – it oozes that ‘big time’ event status. Some of the country’s most prominent names in business turn out in force for what has fast become the world’s single biggest and most popular triathlon. These wealthy multinational’s go toe to toe with local Melbourne businesses as competitors forget about workplace etiquette and take on their industry rivals for workplace supremacy and a 12-month lease on bragging rights!
Conditions were ideal for racing with early morning drizzle clearing in time for post race beverages and BBQ’s for those lucky enough to secure a catered marquee on the day. As always the event atmosphere was electric with a sea of cap colours and corporate uniforms bringing Elwood Reserve to life as it does each year. The red & white of new naming rights sponsor Nissan and long time co-naming rights sponsor BRW adding yet another element to the kaleidoscope of sponsor flags and banners donning the venue.
