Just 70km from Melbourne, on February the 5th is the annual Dromana Bay Pier Swim.
Event details
This year will consist of 8 races.
The first race, “junior”, will start at 10:00am and is for people that are novice swimmers and aged 12 and over. After completing a 600 meter swim, each participant will receive a certificate and a swim cap. Also to note is that if you chose to enter this event, you’re not allowed to choose any others.
At 10:30 the senior (must be fit and have trained before pre-Dromana Bay Pier Swim) events will start. The senior races consist of the following age divisions; 12 - 17, 30 - 39, 40 - 49, 50 - 59, 60 - 69 and 70+. The races will go in waves, and each one will require you to swim 1200 metres, from the Dromana Pier. Also at 11:20, there will be an open age race.
Participants in both the Open and Senior races will receive a complimentary certificate, swim cap and t-shirt. Prizes for the Senior races, will be a trophy, on the other hand for the open age race, 1st place will be awarded a “random pre entry prize.” Also after the open event will be Spot Prizes. Another point is that you are not allowed to wear fins, snorkels or flotation devices or have a support team or individual escort to any of the races.

Registration will be held at 8:00am on the day, at Dromana Old Memorial Hall, however you can register early online, by contacting the following: dblsc@optusnet.com.au. Also you must take into account that the limit of entries is 500.
