When the sun is out and the weather is warm, why not pack a picnic basket and head for one of Melbourne's most popular parks, Edinburgh Gardens
Always a hub of activity, on any given weekend you can enjoy free impromptu concerts throughout the Gardens. No matter what your preference is, you’ll find it, be it jazz, reggae or, for the electronically inclined, there’s even doof doof.

Many Melbournians are discovering this hidden treasure, tucked away among the terrace houses and working cottages of North Fitzroy.
With an eclectic mix of people using the park, it makes for a wonderful place to enjoy a lazy Saturday or Sunday afternoon.

Enjoy this magnificent Victorian era park with its avenues of historic trees lining the footpaths and its crisscrossing bicycle tracks.
The awesome thing about Edinburgh Gardens is that it caters for a multitude of different activities and users. With the Fitzroy Bowling Club, the tennis club and skate bowl, as well as it being the former home of the Fitzroy Lions Footy Club, there is something for everyone.
Its famous rotunda has not only featured in many TV shows, but as its a popular wedding venue, in hundreds of wedding pics as well.
The Gardens also serve as a hub for the local arts community who regularly display their creations for everyone to enjoy.

If you look carefully enough, you may even spot the giant mango:))
We are fortunate that the City of Yarra has invested significant money in maintaining and improving the park. One of the many great results of this spending is the new children’s playground, which I dubbed the Taj de Fitzroy because of its colossal structure.
The City of Yarra will also be establishing a wetlands area using the treated storm water runoff from the former Fitzroy Ladies Bowling Club site. Part of the program includes a rainwater catchment and treatment facility that will supply enough water to irrigate over 50% of the parks trees.
So within exactly 3 kms of Melbourne's CBD and one minute from the Brunswick St turnoff after exiting the Eastern Freeway, is the ideal spot for a picnic in a beautiful park.
