What is the Melbourne Fringe Festival?
The Melbourne Fringe Festival is an annual open access multi arts festival, which takes place over three weeks every spring in and around Melbourne

When is the Festival?
Each year in Spring. In 2007, the Festival runs from 26 September - 14 October.

How do I buy tickets?

There are three ways to buy tickets:

By far the most efficient way is online. Buy tickets now
Buy tickets face to face at the Information and Ticketing Centre in Federation Square between 11am - 7pm weekdays and 11am - 5pm weekends, or if you want to buy shows at HUB venues, you can purchase them from the HUB box offices in North Melbourne.
Buy tickets over the phone on 03 8412 8777 (credit card only).
Are there any free events?
Yes! There are a number of quality free events in the Festival Program. In 2007, 26% of the programmed events are free. Search for free events now.

Where does the Festival take place?
The Festival is based in Melbourne, Victoria in Australia. The Fringe's heartland has traditionally been in the inner North of Melbourne (Fitzroy, Collingwood, Carlton etc) but venues are spread all over the city with 'hubs' of action to the North (Northcote, Brunswick, Thornbury) and South (South Yarra, St Kilda, Prahran). Venues also extend beyond the inner city boundaries into greater Melbourne. If you're in Melbourne in September and October, you'll find a little bit of Fringe around every corner!

What is the Festival HUB?
And lets not forget the Festival HUB in North Melbourne, home to a huge 62, that's 297,215 minutes of Festival frivolity. 14 venues, bars, pubs, restaurants and more await you at the HUB, which is located around the North Melbourne Town Hall, on the corner of Queensberry and Errol Streets. What is the Festival Club?
The Festival Club is back again in the Main Hall of the North Melbourne Town Hall. Every night the Club will present headline acts, showcasing the Festival's best plus bands, DJ's and cheap drinks. Find out what's on at the Club.

What are Fringe Produced Events?
Every year Melbourne Fringe presents a small number of events, which have been curated and conceived by the organisation, in collaboration with local artists, companies and/or venues. These free, large scale 'Fringe Produced Events' (FPE) are designed to highlight the Festival as a whole. Find out more about the 2007 FPE's. I'm an Artist, how do I register for the next Melbourne Fringe Festival in 2008? In a nutshell, anyone can be in the Melbourne Fringe Festival - the Festival is an open access festival. Artists must register their event online during May and June each year. The best thing to do is Sign Up to our eNews. Find out more about registering an event.

Does Fringe need Volunteers?
Yes, yes and yes! We need volunteers to help out before, during and after the Festival. Opportunities exist in all areas of the Festival
