Commencing at Alexandra Gardens and finish at Piazza Italia at Argyle Square in Lygon Street, Carlton with rest stops along the way to keep you going.
Along the way you’ll travel over the Westgate bridge to Williamstown, and back through Flemington to the finish where there’ll be live entertainment and the best that bustling Lygon St has to offer.

Where can I get an entry form?
Entry forms are available from bike shop, gyms, libraries, swimming pools and cycling clubs throughout Melbourne and from Bicycle Victoria's office. Please download the entry form below.

2. How can I enter if I want to pay by cash, cheque or money order?
Enter by post or fax (Entry Form). Payment by cheque or money order.
Enter on the day up until 8:00am for $50. Payment by cash or credit card only.
3. When will entries close?
Pre-event postal, fax and online entries close midday Friday 22nd February
Enter on the day entries will be accepted up to 8.00am sharp
Note: Riders who register after the 15th of February are to collect their ‘entry kit’ on the day from the ‘pre-paid pick up point’.

6. How long will it take?
The Melbourne Summer Cycle is NOT A RACE it is an opportunity to experience Melbourne amongst friends and fellow cyclists. Which means, within reason, you can take your time. A recreational rider will ride at approximately 12-16km per hour, (without accounting for coffee stops!) depending on their fitness. The 40km ride will take approx. 3.5 hours. There will be three official rest stops along the way and many opportunities to take a breather. Enjoy!
7. Can I try on a jersey?
The jerseys are described as an ‘athletic fit’and are quite close fitting. If you need further clarification there is a Netti company-produced sizing chart now posted on the website under the JERSEY AND T SHIRT web page. If you need further confirmation perhaps you would like to find a Netti supplier www.netti.com.auunder local dealers and personally go to try one on to give you a better idea of fit.
8. Does it cost extra to enter a team?
There is no extra cost associated with entering a team, each member simply pays for his/her own individual entry.
9. How do I enter or create a team?
All participants must register online first before creating their team and nominating a captain. Once you have registered online and paid, at the CONFIRMATION OF REGISTRATION page are the details of how to CREATE and JOIN A TEAM.
To create a team nominate a team name and captain. Once these are in the data base any subsequent team members just select the team and add their name to the team. The team page will be created and each new team member will have access to that page for news and updates of sponsorship.
10.Will it be very crowded?
Even through there are up to 5,000 cyclists on the road, it only gets crowded along a few short sections of the course. Cyclists start over an hour period and soon spread over the course.
11. What happens if I breakdown or if I can’t complete the ride?
Up to 220 volunteers will be working along the route, as well as bike mechanics and first aid personnel. They are ready and happy to provide assistance to anyone who may breakdown, feel ill or experience other difficulties.
We recommend that you have your bike serviced before the ride and carry a puncture repair kit and pump. If you breakdown turn your bike upside down and wait.
If we cannot get you going again or you feel you cannot complete the ride, we have a bus and trailer that will collect you and your bike and transport you to the finish site.
12.What happens if it’s raining?
Over the course it can rain in one section and be fine and sunny in another. Riders should be prepared for all weather. The event goes ahead rain or shine, unless there is a significant danger to participants because of poor visibility, lightning, storms, or strong winds.
13. How safe is it?
We do everything possible to make the course safe. If you follow basic road safety rules, drink plenty of fluids and follow instructions from event marshals you’ll have a safe and enjoyable ride.
14. What about insurance?
You are not covered by MS Australia for injuries if an accident occurs. We recommend that you obtain personal accident insurance before taking part. This type of cover is available through membership of Bicycle Victoria.
