Start Time
7.30am – 8.30am
Rider start times will be printed on the front of the envelope that your entry kit arrives in. In the interest of rider safety and a coordinated start, coloured bibs will be issued relevant to the staggered start time allocation.
For safety and crowd control all participants will be allocated a specific start time. Check the front of the envelope that your entry kit arrives in for your scheduled time.
We have a number of people living with MS who participate in the Melbourne Summer Cycle, but there are many people with MS who are not able to ride 40km or in some circumstances, not well enough to ride at all.
If you have a family member or friend who has MS, show your support for them by officially riding on their behalf.
When registering online, please tick this option and we will contact you & assist setting up an additional log on for your friend or family member who has MS to access your fundraising page. This will enable both of you to fundraise for the event and share the glory together!
If you do not know someone with MS but would like to ride on someone’s behalf, we can partner you with a person living with MS who is keen to get involved.

Before you get started, read about our fantastic 2008 fundraisers and team captains to see how they helped people with MS.
Setting a fundraising goal communicates to sponsors that you have a personal target to achieve. Let your sponsors be part of that experience of contributing towards something bigger than a simple donation. People donate because they respect the person asking them. Let them feel better about their donation because they are supporting you personally and your personal fundraising goal.
Setting a plan to achieve your goal is the best way to ensure success! Look at your strengths and contacts to work out the most efficient way to use your time to achieve a great result. More often than not you will surpass your goal just because you executed your fundraising plan and your sponsors noticed how passionate (and organised) you were and so they respond by exceeding your expectations.
Example: If you decided to set a goal of $4,000 you could plan to:
Run a trivia night for 100 people (will get 10 people to organise a table each) - $2,000
Ask for online sponsorship from friends and co-workers (20 people x $50) - $1,000
Ask for matched funding ($4,000) or a company donation - $1,000
Educate yourself about Multiple Sclerosis. It is also a great idea to read about our programs and services offered for the benefit of people living with MS.
Let everyone know about what you plan to achieve and promote this great thing you are doing to help people with MS. People want to help and may offer a donation or even their time to help with your fundraising. People give because they want to support you and your fundraising, why not let them!
Great ways to promote your efforts are:
Send an email or PowerPoint presentation to communicate your message, including the link to your web page
Place on company Intranet or sporting or community newsletter. Why not ask if you can send something out in your company’s payslips that are sent to employees!
Place posters up around your workplace
Insert your fundraising goal on your auto signature
Send an invite for people to sponsor you on Facebook
Many workplaces and organisations are more than happy to support a good cause, a huge bonus being if they can be seen to support their employees at the same time, all you have to do is ask! Click here to find out more!
